Any Minute – Book Talk

How many people bury pain from their past – sometimes without even realizing what they are doing?  That is what Sarah Harper does in the newly-released book, Any Minute, by Joyce Meyer and Deborah Bedford.

No approval

Sarah’s mother, Jane, has never given Sarah one word of love and acceptance.  Although Sarah grows up with a loving stepfather and a doting Christian grandmother, their love can never satisfy Sarah’s yearning for the approval of her mom.

The drive for perfection

After years of hard work and achievement, Sarah seems to have everything: a loving husband, adorable children, a beautiful house in an affluent neighborhood, and a prestigious job.

Sarah still carries the pain of her mother’s rejection though, and she is secretly afraid to risk being hurt and rejected by her husband and kids.  She keeps her family at a distance, hurting those she loves the most, while seeking approval and self-worth from her boss.

As an adult, Sarah avoids her mother most of the time yet drives herself to achieve career perfection in hopes that her mother will finally be proud of her.

The threshold for Sarah

As Sarah’s relationships with her husband and children begin to crumble, a life-changing event happens when Sarah finally calls out to God for help.  She will either meet with disaster or healing – depending on the choices she makes.

What happens?

Is it too late for Sarah to have a second chance with her husband and children?  Will tragedy and death have to occur for her family’s healing to begin?  What will it take for Sarah’s mother to deal with a secret from her own past that has kept her from showing love to her daughter for all these years?

To find out, you will have to read Any Minute by Joyce Meyer and Deborah Bedford.
