What new beginnings has God given you in your life recently?

For me, the past few months have been intense and stressful.  I haven’t handled it very well at times, but I was thinking today about the fact that God is always giving us new beginnings – even while trials are happening in our lives.

What kind of new beginnings…?

• Each day is a new beginning – a fresh start – because His mercies are new every morning (Lam. 3:22-23).  We cannot go back and change yesterday, but we have new choices to make today.
• New ministry opportunities.  God frequently brings new people into our paths and gives us new opportunities to touch lives.  This may mean a few seconds of smiling and speaking to a cashier at the grocery store.  It might mean treating strangers in our everyday paths with common courtesy and respect.  Simple acts can say, “You are an important and significant individual who has value.”
• New levels of faith.  God will take us to the next level of trusting Him – a new level of faith and trust in Him.  Often it is a painful and trial-filled journey, but He teaches us  – and the new beginning He gives us is worth it.

Thoughts on new beginnings…

I am glad God does not put us somewhere for safe-keeping to become  stagnant Christians who are just waiting to be raptured.  I’m thankful He is a God of new beginnings… because I need them every day.
